Chief Executive’s Health & Safety Policy Statement

 

POLICY STATEMENT FOR SCOTTISH LEGAL AID BOARD

The promotion of Health and Safety at Work measures is of the utmost importance for all personnel who work in The Scottish Legal Aid Board.

It is the Boards’ policy to ensure that every reasonable step is taken to prevent injury to personnel, damage to property and to protect individuals from possible hazards at work. This also includes members of the general public as and when they come into contact with the Board. Whether it is for business or other activities.

We have a particular responsibility for:

  • Providing and maintaining safe and healthy working conditions, taking into account the requirement for adequate training and instruction to ensure all personnel are able to perform their various tasks safely and efficiently.

  • To ensure that a constant awareness with regards to Health and Safety at Work is maintained within the Board.

  • All personnel employed within the Board have a legal obligation to cooperate in the operation of the policy by not interfering with, or misusing, equipment that has been provided in the interest of Health and Safety.

  • All personnel working within the Board have an obligation to cooperate with regard to this policy so far as is reasonably practical by:
    • Reporting any incident, which has led to, or could have led to damage or injury.
    • Comply with safety procedures, whether written or brought to their attention by other means
    • Assisting in any inv estigation with regard to accidents.

  • It is the responsibility of Directors, Managers, Supervisor and Team Leaders to ensure that the contents of this policy document are carried out by themselves or their staff. Also to ensure that all safety arrangement s within their areas of responsibility are up to date and reflect the procedures which are to be followed within the Board.
