Our Annual Report 2004-2005 details a range of legal aid statistics about applications, grants and costs. It also includes our audited accounts.
To coincide with publication of our Annual Report we publish information on payments made to all firms of solicitors, solicitor advocates and advocates in 2004-2005 for legal aid work.
The amounts shown are rounded to the nearest £100. You should read our notes below explaining the information shown.
Firm earnings
This table shows what we paid to solicitors' firms between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2005. It includes BACS payments transferred to the firms' bank accounts and cheques dated between those dates. In some cases, money may have been paid to a firm, but returned to us, and any such amounts put through our accounts system between those dates have been deducted. If a firm has repaid us money in a year later than the original payment, they may be shown as having been paid a negative figure.
Advocates
This table shows what we paid to the Faculty of Advocates for each advocate between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2005. It includes BACS payments transferred to the Faculty's bank accounts and cheques dated between those dates. In some cases, money may have been paid to the Faculty, but returned to us, and any such amounts put through our accounts system between those dates have been deducted. If an advocate has repaid us money in a year later than the original payment, they may be shown as having been paid a negative figure.
Solicitor advocates
This table shows what we paid to firms for each solicitor advocate between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2005. It includes BACS payments transferred to the firms' bank accounts and cheques dated between those dates. In some cases, money may have been paid to the firm, but returned to us, and any such amounts put through our accounts system between those dates have been deducted. If a solicitor advocate has repaid us money in a year later than the original payment, they may be shown as having been paid a negative figure.
