Corporate Plan 2009-2011
This year we have decided not to print paper copies, so as to provide value for money for the taxpayer and to publish the plan in a more environmentally friendly way.

The plan and our new performance indicators reflect our commitment to high standards of service delivery and continuing to improve the delivery of legal aid in Scotland for applicants, opponents and the legal profession. Our plan is aligned with the Scottish Government’s Purpose and we will contribute to six of the Scottish Government’s National Outcomes.
Our work will focus on
- access to justice
- best value for the taxpayer
- contributing to an efficient justice system.
We will
- be involved in the review and reform of solemn sheriff court procedure and will soon take over the granting of legal aid in solemn criminal cases
- fund activity to increase provision of legal advice and representation for people facing repossession and other problems such as debt
- roll-out legal aid online for all types of legal aid
- further develop the simplification of civil legal assistance and its improvement
- carry out a programme of reviews to achieve best value in our legal aid services and provide support to legal aid providers to help them operate more effectively.
This work will be done against the background of an economic downturn and tight public expenditure, including an unchanged administration budget, with the likelihood of an increase in applications and grants.
