On 1 January 2005 the Freedom of Information ( Scotland) Act 2002 (FoI Act) came into effect. The Act aims to increase openness and accountability in government and across the public sector by ensuring that people have the right to get access to information held by Scottish public authorities, including the Scottish Legal Aid Board. You will be able to see and question how such bodies work and how they make their decisions.

You can read more about Freedom of Information in our Publications Scheme.

A publication scheme tells you what information we regularly publish. You can also read about how we developed our publication scheme.

The information available section shows you what information we regularly publish which you can read online or request from us.

You can also read about making requests for information under the new Freedom of Information laws and under data protection.
