Conference for lawyers involved in Children’s Hearings - Friday 19 May

Thursday, Mar 23, 2017

The Law Society of Scotland will hold a conference in May for lawyers involved in the Children’s Hearings system.

The one day event in Edinburgh will provide training and guidance to improve understanding of childhood developments which can affect the relationship between solicitors and young people.

The conference is a result of a recent study by CELCIS which identified a desire for further training amongst the legal profession and aims to place child-centred methods at the heart of practice.

Joe Kelly, SLAB’s Head of Civil Legal Assistance, will present a session on the expectations on solicitors as a result of the Code of Practice.

Sessions by other speakers will also cover areas such as communication with vulnerable children and the rights of children.

For more information about the event on Friday 19 May please contact Tessa Malcolm at the Law Society of Scotland on 0131 476 8125 or email
