Update – 22 June 2011 - New version of Legal Aid Online is launched

If your browser is Internet Explorer 6 or older, you will need to upgrade to a newer version - please see the links below to help you.

We have published a new edition of the LAOL e-newsletter which explains the enhancements made to Legal Aid Online on 21 June 2011. You can read it in the newsletter section below.

Among other changes, the menus have been reorganised to create more space on the screen. Menus now appear along the top of the screen and can be accessed by moving the cursor to the required tab (for example, A&A, Civil). A set of drop-down links will appear and users can then access the required application (for example, increases or sanctions).

Update - 13 June 2011 – Revised Legal Aid Online mandate forms

Following feedback from solicitors, we have made some changes to the mandates:

  • The criminal legal aid mandate (LAO CRIM) has been reduced to one page.
  • To assist the applicant, the civil and criminal advice and assistance mandate forms (AA LAO CRIM & CIV) now contain a list of items that the applicant should consider when declaring if they have any capital. There is a new declaration included in the Applicant’s Declaration which states that they have considered that list.
  • We have therefore also shortened the advice and assistance verification mandate (AA/VERF/MAND) so that it now only has to be used in situations where the applicant has not been able to provide verification at your first meeting.
  • The AA/FIN/CIV should only be used if we send you a message asking you to complete it or if you have used the AA/LAO/CIV (Version May 2011) to obtain the applicant’s signature.
