The plan and our new performance indicators reflect our commitment to high standards of service delivery and continuing to improve the delivery of legal aid in Scotland for applicants, opponents and the legal profession. Our plan is aligned with the Scottish Government’s Purpose and we will contribute to six of the Scottish Government’s National Outcomes.

Over the next three years there will be substantial change to the justice system in Scotland. Alongside these changes, legal aid will also see significant development.

First, we will work to further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of our own functions, the operation of the legal aid system and its interaction with the rest of the justice system. Second, we want to ensure that there are sufficient providers of legal aid services to meet the needs of the public across Scotland for high quality, good value legal aid services.

CORPORATE PLAN 2005-2006

Significant reform and change to the legal aid system over the next year, as part of Scottish Ministers’ programme of reform of the justice system, will improve delivery of services and develop access to justice. The changes are highlighted in the Board's Corporate Plan 2005-2006.

CORPORATE PLAN 2004-2006 "Opportunities for access"

The commitment to improving and developing legal aid in Scotland to provide greater opportunities for access to justice is central to the strategy detailed in our Corporate Plan 2004-2006. The plan, titled "Opportunities for access," covers the second year of a three-year planning period that started in 2003. It summaries the Board's progress during the past year and sets out what it aims to achieve during the next two years.
