Archive information - Strategic Review announcement and progress
On 24th October 2003 at the joint Law Society of Scotland and Scottish Legal Aid Board conference the Minister for Justice announced the Strategic Review of the delivery of legal aid, advice and information. The Review will consider the delivery of legal aid, the role, functions and powers of the Scottish Legal Aid Board, as well as the roles of all of those involved in the delivery of publicly funded legal advice. The Review will look at how these may need to be changed in the light of the policy to modernise legal aid and the objective to deliver a national framework for legal advice, information and representation. The Review will also look closely at promoting effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of legal aid, especially criminal legal aid.
