We have published below data on the uptake of police station advice following the introduction of the new arrangements on 25 January 2018. Our intention is to publish information on local volumes and requests for police station advice on a regular basis to keep you informed of the emerging demand for services.
We hope this will help remove some of the uncertainty and concern about the level of demand raised by some solicitors as a reason for withdrawing from some duty plans. Further updates will include more detailed information as it becomes available.
We met with the EBA in January 2018 to discuss how solicitors who want to provide police station advice can be supported to manage any increased demand from the CJ Act implementation. This will include the role and operation of support services provided both by the Solicitor Contact Line and the Duty Scheme for police station attendances.
