Second Tier Help for the advice sector


SLAB administers a number of projects to provide assistance to frontline advisers with their clients' benefit, debt and housing problems. This includes two national projects and one project providing advice for non-advice professionals in Glasgow. These projects are funded under the Making Advice Work Programme to March 2017.

This national project equips frontline staff in advice and support agencies to deal with welfare reform and other benefit enquiries and help make effective referral for further advice.

It provides a national telephone and email service on social security benefit for frontline staff across the third and public sector.

This national project provides second tier advice to voluntary sector organisations across Scotland which are being approached for help on money, debt and housing issues by their service users.
