Children’s duty scheme – Festive period arrangements

Friday, Dec 11, 2015

We have been advised by the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) that its offices will be open until 5pm on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

For firms who are on the Children’s Duty Plan on those days please remember that you will need to be available up to 5pm.
As explained in the eligibility criteria, for inclusion on the Children’s Duty Plan, it is a firm’s responsibility to fulfil all duty plan obligations and to ensure that representation is provided where required.
It is important that you let us know immediately if you will be unable to act if required on either day up to 5pm.

Firms on duty over the festive period need to be available as follows:
  • 23 December – normal business hours (9-5pm)
  • 24 December – normal business hours (9-5pm)
  • 25 December – not required
  • 26 December – Saturday – there is potential for emergency hearings so normal business hours apply (9-5pm)
  • 28 December – not required
  • 29 December – normal business hours (9-5pm)
  • 30 December – normal business hours (9-5pm)
  • 31 December – normal business hours (9-5pm)
  • 1 January 2016 – not required
  • 2 January 2016 – Saturday – again there is the potential for emergency hearings so normal business hours apply (9-5pm)
  • 4 January 2016 – not required
  • 5 January 2016 – normal business hours (9-5pm)
If your firm is on duty on any of these dates and your office is going to be closed or unavailable at certain times over the festive period, please contact us immediately to make alternative arrangements.
