Revised guidance on legal aid for contact actions – effective 7 December

Thursday, Dec 03, 2015

This is a reminder that the revised guidance on applications for civil legal aid for contact actions [Update 21 October 2015] is effective from 7 December 2015.

Any application submitted after that date where we are not provided with copies of correspondence entered into to try to resolve matters will be rejected until such time as this information is provided.

If no attempts have been made to settle the matter without recourse to litigation then full details of this will need to be provided to let us decide whether it is appropriate to consider the application for legal aid nonetheless.

Please remember that if you send in representations on behalf of your client about any application for civil legal aid we may decide to send these to the solicitor acting for the applicant if we think there are matters raised in the representations that need to be examined further.

If you have any queries about this matter please contact Catriona Whyte, Head of Legal Services – Civil and Children’s on whyteca@slab.org.uk or 0131 240 2088.
