The Solicitor Contact Line is a service operated by the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB), the public authority which administers legal aid in Scotland. We advise and represent clients who are eligible for criminal legal aid in summary and solemn cases at every level across Scotland’s busiest courts.
We are currently recruiting for two Criminal Defence Solicitors within our Solicitor Contact Line, one full-time and one part-time role.
The full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract will be well suited to candidates looking for temporary stability and the opportunity to build experience while working in a busy office.
The permanent part-time post, with a total of 18.5 hours per week, will be ideal for an individual who needs more flexibility while caring for others, studying or supplementing another income.
Usually based at our headquarters in Edinburgh with some homeworking, you will be working a variable shift pattern supporting a 24/7 service. You should be willing to attend police stations across Scotland and elsewhere in the UK, to provide individuals with advice.
In addition to providing legal advice, you will also be required to carry out administrative tasks, desk-based legal tasks and general related tasks as directed by the SCL Team Leader.
