Diagnostic advice and assistance: definition and expenditure limit

Advice by way of a diagnostic interview is the only advice and assistance available where:

  • The subject matter of the advice is not included in the list of categories to be treated as “distinct”. In other words, that it is not “high level” advice that your client would expect to receive from a solicitor set out from time to time in a list of such categories of advice.
  • We have not approved a request for advice given to a client to be treated as if it were listed advice.

The authorised expenditure level for a diagnostic interview is £35, which cannot be increased.
