It is important you make your clients aware of their responsibilities. They need to know their entitlement to publicly funded legal assistance is subject to them meeting certain criteria. They should be able to prove they meet the criteria, in the same way as they would for getting benefits, a passport or a driving licence. You must advise your clients of the consequences of providing false information.
