Invoices for family mediation, supervised contact, or supported contact

This update is to clarify the information that we require solicitors to provide in support of any claims for family mediation, supervised contact or supported contact.

It also sets out the information that suppliers should be including in their invoices before a claim can be assessed by us and payment made.

We regularly have to ask solicitors for additional information that we need to be able to assess claims. This causes additional administration for solicitors and our staff.

Information required from solicitors

For any court ordered family mediation, supervised or supported contact the court’s interlocutor should be uploaded as an attachment to the work item, along with the supplier’s invoice when submitting a claim.

For further information in relation to family mediation, supervised contact and supported contact, including when prior approval is needed, you can find our guidance in this drop-down tool.

Information suppliers should include in invoices

We have updated our legal aid guidance Outlays section with the information that should be included in the supplier’s invoice together with an example invoice that suppliers may find useful.

When instructing family mediation, supervised contact or supported contact you should refer the supplier to the Outlays guidance Invoices for family mediation, supervised contact and supported.
