Join us and play a vital role ensuring the readiness of our systems at SLAB. As part of an Agile team, you’ll work alongside developers, product managers, and product owners to help deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions.
The role aligns to the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (external link) but offers a unique opportunity to work in a small, flexible department where you’ll take on a variety of tasks.
Beyond testing, you’ll play a key role in training internal and external stakeholders, as well as creating training materials for our website.
Essential criteria
- Experience in Agile testing, supporting test activities, identifying risks and overcoming delivery barriers
- Ability to design and execute functional test packs, communicate results effectively and prioritise defects based on severity
- Experience in planning and conducting non-functional tests, making informed decisions on testing approaches and clearly reporting findings
- Strong technical knowledge of testing tools, techniques and frameworks with the ability to advise on system design and accessibility
- Ability to analyse issues, interpret data, identify improvements and develop effective solutions
- Experience in creating training materials and delivering sessions for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ability to maintain high-quality work standards while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of automated testing tools (can create and maintain automated test scripts to aid test running and analysing the results)
- PRINCE2® Foundation Certification
- Experience in Agile team
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own workload
- Works well with a team but also self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Adaptable to change with a genuine enthusiasm for learning new things
- Maintains high quality and accuracy of work, especially when under pressure
- Sound working knowledge of the legal aid process
- Experience with either Adobe or Axure, or other design tool such as CAD.
