Senior Criminal Defence Solicitor X2 (Grade 7) – Flexible within PDSO network
Full time; Fixed term (18 months)

To supply the independent delivery of high-quality and ethical criminal legal defence services, without fear or favour, in summary and solemn courts and at police stations, as both a nominated and duty solicitor, applying core criminal justice values using specialist knowledge, including expertise in the criminal justice system and legal aid.

While the permanent place of work is flexible and can be located at any of our eight PDSO offices, the two successful solicitors will be expected to support the PDSO network based on the geographical area assigned.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and representation to clients who are subject to criminal investigations or criminal proceedings
  • Apply and adhere to procedures and Codes of Practice to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the PDSO
  • Build and maintain a client base within the area
  • Represent the PDSO in its relationship with outside bodies to support the Head of Office in achieving our core business objectives
  • Assist and participate in formal staff training within the PDSO and mentor solicitors in managing their caseload.
