Vacancies: Trainee Defence Solicitors (PDSO)

We are currently recruiting for two Trainee Solicitors within the Public Defence Solicitors’ Office (PDSO) for Glasgow and Dundee. Both posts are fixed-term for two years on a full-time basis.

About the PDSO

Operating as a direct service of the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB), the PDSO is a national network of publicly funded solicitors operating from seven offices across Scotland providing criminal legal assistance.

They advise and represent clients, who are eligible for criminal legal aid, in relation to summary and solemn cases at every level and in Scotland’s busiest courts all over the country.

About the role

The job of Trainee Public Defence Solicitor will ultimately match that of a Public Defence Solicitor. The main purpose is to manage criminal cases at all levels. However, duties and responsibilities will be limited and will vary to a level appropriate to each stage of the traineeship, particularly taking account of limitations as directed by Law Society traineeship rules.
