Upcoming research on fee reform for adults with incapacity (AWI) cases

We are conducting new research on fee reform with solicitors who work on AWI cases.

The research will explore solicitors’ views on:

  • fee reform for AWI cases, and the potential for block fees
  • variation in practices and business models of those working on AWI cases
  • the potential impacts of fee reform on firms and solicitors, and the future of the sector.

The findings will help shape our future thinking and advice to Scottish Government on fee structures for the future.

Our researcher will begin contacting solicitors in late July to invite them to take part in an interview. Interviews will take place from early August.

Participation is voluntary and all responses will be treated in confidence. Individuals, solicitors and firms will not be identified in the research findings.

Once the research report is complete, we will publish the findings on our website.
