Video and webinars on Children’s reforms coming into effect 1 June 2026

We are holding a series of webinars on the new provisions and the system changes as a result of reforms to Children’s Legal Assistance coming into effect on 1 June 2026.

The Legal Aid and Advice and Assistance (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2026 and the Legal Aid and Advice and Assistance (Fees) (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2026 will come into force on Monday 1 June 2026.

They make three changes to Children’s Legal Assistance:

  1. There will be no financial and merits tests for applicants under 18 years of age for ABWOR at hearings
  2. If ABWOR is granted, the initial level of authorised expenditure is raised from £135 to £550
  3. Separate applications for ABWOR are no longer required in certain circumstances.
