The Scottish Solicitors’ Discipline Tribunal (SSDT) has found Steven Anderson, formerly of Andersons Solicitors in Glasgow, guilty of professional misconduct and struck him from the Roll of Solicitors in Scotland.

With effect from Tuesday 24th September, in terms of the recent ruling of the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, there will no longer be a formal requirement for an instructing solicitor (or local agent) to attend behind counsel at any civil court hearing. The discretion now available to solicitors to instruct counsel to appear at a hearing without the attendance of an instructing agent clearly affects the way that the Board will approach charges made by solicitors for attendance behind counsel.
