Online notifications for court granted and automatic legal aid cases

We have identified an issue on Legal Aid Online where not all notifications are being sent to solicitors when we receive applications for court granted and automatic legal aid.

We are currently working to resolve this.

How to check we have received your application

If you were expecting an application to be confirmed by online notification but have not received one, you can check your client’s details on Legal Aid Online to confirm their LARN. You can do this by clicking on the search tab and entering the applicant’s first name, surname and selecting ‘Criminal’ in the legal aid type.

What cases could this be affecting?

This issue relates to notifications when we receive a CRIM/COURT/APP form for a grant of legal aid by the Court under Sections 23(1)(b) and 30(1) of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986.

It may also affect notifications when the Court has confirmed an automatic grant of legal aid in any Drug, Youth or the Glasgow Domestic Abuse Court, or in any of the Section 22(1)(d) situations covering mental health, sexual offences or vulnerable witnesses cases.
