Cases Panel and Legal Services Cases Committee

The Cases Panel will consider applications containing features which make decision making difficult, such as where there is a perceived conflict of interest between SLAB and the applicant.

The Cases Panel is a group of three senior SLAB staff convened for the purposes of considering applications (including review applications) which the Head of Civil and Children’s Legal Assistance considers require further escalation.

The Cases Panel requires all three members to be in attendance to be quorate, and the decision, if not unanimous, will be by majority.

In exceptional circumstances the Cases Panel will refer a case to the Legal Services Cases Committee for a decision.
